Proclamation of Following the Sunnah Despite Being Oblivious of the Sunnah of Daawah

Ubqari Magazine - August 2014

Preacher of Islam Hazrat Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui, Phallat

Hazrat Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui is a great preacher of Islam upon whose hands almost more than 500,000 people have embraced Islam. His renowned and famous book "Naseem-e-Hidaayet ke jhonkay" is worth reading.

With the suggestion of elders hazrat Muhi-al-sannah Shah Ibrar-ul-Haque sahib noor-Allah Marqada was resident in Maysore. I found this as an opportunity and went to him with a few friends of mine. The next day was a special gathering that was being conducted by him. People of Allah love sunnah. Hazrat was discussing the importance of following sunnah. The summary of this was that sincerity and following are two things. The importance of following is more than even sincerity. Hazrat said that only sincerity without following is not enough. But following without sincerity can be useful without sincerity. He gave an example that you offered prayers and you offered it with the right kind of state as it comes in Hadith: "Worship Allah as if you are watching Him, since although you are not watching Him but He is watching you."

You recited Quran-e-Majeed with a lot of indulgence as well. During the prayers you had a very vehement state as well. But instead of 4 rackets you offered 5 rackets, or instead of 2 prostrations you perforformed 1. After that you go to mufti sahib and he would say that the prayer has not been accepted. You have abandoned prayers. You are guilty of . How did such a great deed become a sin. The reasons is that the sincerity was there but you did not follow properly. Similarly you fasted. You kept your fast with halal sehri. You spent your day carefully. Your intentions were also very pure. But you broke your fast intentionally before one minute. If you would ask mufti sahib you would get a reply that you have made a huge mistake. You will have to fast again and you would have to keep 60 more fasts as fine. How did such a big deed become such big sin. Because you had sincerity but you did not follow properly.

As opposed to that you offered prayers. You offered prayers with ill intentions or no intentions but you fulfilled your duties and and compulsory matters and mufti sahib would tell you that although you did not get the blessings of prayers, however, you have not become the one who has abandoned prayers. Or if you paid the zakaat but with no good intentions or to show to the people, mufti sahib would tell you that you have not achieved the blessings of zakaat but you have not become the one who has abandoned zakaat. Your zakaat has been paid because because been though sincerity was not there but you followed it properly. From this we come to know that following is more important than sincerity.

I said that a question lurks in the mind since a long time and I do not hope anyone else to give a satisfactory reply. would you allow me to ask that? Hazrat said, definitely. I asked that the virtues of following that you explain  are only for the common Sunnahs and is there the same reward for the desired sunnahs as well? Hazrat waala became extremely quiet. He bowed his head and kept on thinking. Hazrat was well aware with my idea that I call the Sunnah of preaching Islam as the desired Sunnah. After STaying quiet for a very long time hazrat lifted his head and said that I was right. He sent his servant to the room and he brought two bills of Rs. 500 each and gave them to me. He said that these were not much but they were a sign of love.

After that my acquaintance grew with hazrat. Anyone who went from Phallat to meet him and hazrat used to become very happy. No doubt the condition for love with the Sunnah is that the same type of love be with the desired Sunnah of hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).
